From: Mr. Big Sky
I have a question that has to do with a "Mommy Mindset" that I can't seem to understand, conquer, counter, nor cure. Who determined that any chore outdoors is automatically assigned to a man? I know that the "old brain" of men is from our "hunter-gatherer" history but give me a break! The work is never too hard that a woman couldn't handle it, so maybe it's one of those "nesting" issues and their responsibility is restricted to the interior of the nest. This role-playing, where certain tasks are automatically assigned by some theory handed down through the generations should be equally administered. A self-propelled mower can be handled just as easily by a Mommy as by a male. I'd throw a light garbage receptacle in that category too.
Married to Mommy in Montana
Dear Big Sky Country,
| Your instincts are correct. You were never meant to perform these “gathering” duties. Since you live in Montana, find a nice rifle and blast a few prairie dogs every once in a while. Then, bring home what’s left of their little limp carcasses to reinforce your stature as The Great Provider of the family. | ![]() |
