I have several friends who are under a considerable amount of control by their Mommies, and this malady is commonly referred to as a "short leash". I am convinced it is some kind of spell or trance that mommies are capable of casting.
Could it actually be some form of collusion and “unleashed” Mommies are the exception? One friend in particular went through a recent divorce, lost everything (of course) and he's in another short leashed relationship.

Forget about the magic spells, this isn't the Blair Witch Project. It all starts with dating. Pre-mommies allow a rather long leash while dating, slowly shortening as the relationship lengthens. Once the sacred ceremony has been performed a "choke chain" brings hubby to heal .
It is important for Pre-mommies to know the strength of their leash. This is precisely why Mommies date in the first place: To find the right dog for their leash. You'll notice a certain amount of training and drilling take place while dating; raptor pre-mommies are searching for a big strong dog. But a dog that's too strong, that may break the leash, is unacceptable for marriage.
In the end there is some order to the universe; Mommies with strong leashes control the bigger dogs, mommies with weaker leashes control lesser dogs, and those without leashes never bring home the puppy!
